3/19 @ 5:30pm- Zoom Athletic Wellness Talk for LHVA Athletes

    03/06/2023, 5:45pm EST
    By Sloane Dill

Lower Hudson Volleyball Association is offering a free online educational lecture for our athletes. Players and parents can log onto the Zoom session on Sunday, March 19th at 5:30pm to learn more about injury prevention and athletic wellness. This athletic wellness talk covers topics on nutrition and hydration for the elite athlete, with a focus on injury prevention and optimal performance.

All competitive athletes, including volleyball players, need to keep in mind the issues outside the lines that can provide a competitive edge, and more importantly help our athletes avoid injury. You are welcome to join this free virtual seminar for an in-depth discussion on optimal strategies for nutrition and hydration, including timing and content of meals relative to training and competition. The role of supplements will also be addressed. Strategies for optimizing sleep will also be discussed. This seminar will be provided by Dr. Marc Kowalsky, team physician for USA rugby, and sports medicine specialist at Orthopaedic & Neurosurgery Specialists.

Feel free to reach out with any questions! Zoom link to follow in an email closer to the event.

LHVA TRAVEL PARENT RECORDED ZOOM MEETING

    GEVA Juniors Inclement Weather Policy

    When will we cancel?

GEVA makes every effort to fulfill our commitment to teams and clubs by conducting all scheduled tournaments. Sometimes things get in the way. Our inclement weather practice has been to hold the tournament if at all possible (even if some teams are more effected than others). Exceptions are made in dangerous situations, and those beyond our control. If the weather is bad, (snow and ice) your safety is paramount. Do not drive if it you don't feel safe.

    Why do we cancel?

We will cancel for two reasons:

    1. The staff determines the weather and driving conditions are too hazardous.

    2. If the facility where we are holding tournament cancels our access.

    When do I know?

When possible, a decision is made prior to 9 pm the evening prior. If a situation worsens overnight, the decision is adjusted prior to 5:30 am the day of the tournament. Once cancelled, we will not have a mind change.

    How do I know?

We will send information through webpoint to Club directors, and AES to participating Clubs. We will also post on juniors and home page of geva.org

    Safety is paramount.

Do not drive if it you don't feel safe.
