LVHA has selected experienced volleyball coaches from around the county. Many of our coaches have played on the college level and have years of coaching experience.
Sloane started her volleyball career at Pelham Memorial High School and continued to play for Nazareth College. While obtaining her bachelor’s degree, she coached for Volley FX in Rochester, New York. Shortly after graduation, she returned to Pelham where she and Mark Finegan began Lower Hudson Volleyball Association in 2007. Sloane was also an assistant coach for Pelham Varsity Volleyball from 2007-2012, where she helped lead her team to the State Championship in 2011 and 2012. As the club now begins its seventh year, she is excited to continue to provide opportunities for girls to accelerate their volleyball skills.
Mark Finegan has been coaching volleyball for 24 years. From 1990-2000, he coached the varsity volleyball team at New Rochelle HS and then began at Pelham HS where he is still the head coach. While coaching high school volleyball, he led his team to 11 League Champions, 2 Section 1 Champions, 2 Regional Champions and 2 State Final Fours in 2011 and 2012. Amazingly, he has been the Section 1 Coach of the Year 9 times. Since 1996, he has also been a physical education teacher at Pelham Memorial High School. Additionally, in 1998, he started coaching boys varsity basketball at Pelham. In 2007, he and Sloane Dill began Lower Hudson Volleyball Association. Today, he continues to show the love of the sport by dedicating his time to the game year round. He looks forward to another successful season with LHVA!
As well as acting co-director, Sloane has coached for LHVA for 7 years. In addition to coaching the 17s team each year, she also coached the 13s team for 4 years. In 2009, Sloane began the Developmental Program hosted by fellow co-director, Mark Finegan. Each year, Sloane devotes her time to ensure LHVA continues to be a great opportunity for female volleyball players.
Elizabeth has been playing volleyball since middle school and her love for the sport is what keeps her playing today. She attended New Rochelle high school and graduated in 2006. She was captain for 2 years and played defensive specialist for the girls varsity volleyball team. She plays all year around in different leagues from indoor to outdoor, grass and beach. In her spare time, she is playing volleyball whenever she can. This is her first year coaching for LHVA and she is very excited to teach and improve some new skills for the upcoming season.
Geygy is a first grade teacher in the White Plains School District. She has been part of our LHVA family for four years. When Geygy first came to LHVA, she coached the 15s team and later moved up to the 16s. As she goes into her fifth year of coaching, she continues to expand her knowledge of the sport both as a coach and a player. She shares her love of the sport by playing both indoor and outdoor volleyball with her fellow coaching friends. In addition to working at LHVA, Geygy co-directs a volleyball clinic for young elementary and middle school students.
Tom is currently going into his third season at LHVA. After coaching the 15's team for two consecutive seasons, he is moving up to the 16's level where he is looking forward to expanding his knowledge of the sport even further. Tom has been playing volleyball for the past 15 years and to this day thrives on improving every aspect of his game. He finds great satisfaction in coaching as he spreads his passion for volleyball while helping young athletes develop their skills both on and off the court. Volleyball has become a big part of his life and he hopes to continue to help the sport grow as he shares his love for it with the younger generations. Outside of LHVA, Tom helps run a developmental program for elementary and middle school aged athletes.

This will be my second year coaching for LHVA. My coaching experience does not go past LHVA, but my passion and excitement for the sport has tremendously helped me become the coach I am today. I've been playing volleyball for over 10 years, indoors, on the grass, and in the sand. I enjoy the sport, and I love being able to share this experience.
